These days it's more common to be asked to email your CV and/or job application when applying for a new job. Some companies however, still use a more formal written application process.

If you're applying for a job where this is a requirement, you'll need to include a cover letter along with your completed application form as an introduction. This will give the recruiter or hiring manager an outline of the reasons why they should read on through your job application, as well as your CV.
